That helps save valuable mobile data with just a few taps on the Chrome Beta
One of the less talked about features launched at Google I / O last week is a new option for Chrome on mobile devices to reduce the bandwidth used while browsing. Now the feature has been launched in an experimental capacity as part of the latest updates Chrome Beta for Android, and it is a quick way to help save on data usage while browsing. Unlike most systems that work to maintain data when browsing, browsing Google route traffic through one of your own proxy server, compressing it along the way as the data sent back and forth to your phone. True, Google has chosen to only the HTTP connection through a
proxy, and HTTPS request will always be sent immediately. Google claims the data saving can be as much as 50 percent, which is nothing to sneeze at.
To enable this new feature, you will have to run the latest Chrome Beta update (version 28, technically) on your phone or tablet. You may be greeted by a splash page the first time you open Chrome Beta after the update, but if you do not, head to your browser settings, scroll down to "Bandwidth Management" and then press "Reducing the use of data" and press the button on the right to activate . (If you do not see the option, try to go to "chrome :/ / flags" in the navigation bar and enable it manually.) You will be able to come back after you do some browsing and see how much data you store with this new feature enabled.
